Halloween- Whitefish Style

Its Halloween boys & ghouls! Iconic radio voice Paul Harvey once proclaimed Whitefish to be one of the best places to be in America at Halloween. A massive adult Halloween party on Central Avenue, complete with a costume party and judges strategically positioned in each of the downtown bars, presents some pretty interesting sightings. Cash prizes for 1st and 2nd place in 3 categories including: Individual, Couple, and Group will be awarded at midnight. One thing we know for sure is that Whitefish loves to have a good time.

Christmas Stroll in Whitefish

Wrap up in your best holiday attire and spirit and get ready to stroll. Visit the stores, ride a horse-drawn wagon, try a roasted chestnut, enjoy enchanting Christmas sounds, and treat yourself to the delicious food and beautiful crafts the street vendors have to offer. Join in on the second annual caroling competition and merry-go-round parade.

Snow Shoeing Through Glacier National Park- Glacier Park
January – March, 2013
Two-hour guided snowshoe walks suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities. Snowshoe programs are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from January to March (weather and snow dependent). Participants should meet at the Apgar Visitor Center, where the walks begin and conclude. Snowshoes can be rented for $2 per pair for the walks at the Apgar Visitor Center. Participants should wear winter footwear, dress in layers for a variety of winter conditions, and bring water. For more information, or to confirm a day's outings when there is severe weather or possible insufficient snow, please call the Apgar Visitor Center (open Saturdays and Sundays only from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at (406) 888-7939. Visitors are reminded that although the snowshoe programs are free, valid park entry is required.
During winter months, entrance costs $15 for a seven-day single vehicle entry. Annual Glacier park passes are also available for $35

Biloxi Blues @ Whitefish Theatre Company

Neil Simon's Tony-award-winning, coming-of-age comedy about a young man from Brooklyn who spends 10 weeks of Army boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1943; the wartime sequel to "Brighton Beach Memoirs." Eugene leaves Brooklyn for the first time and must contend not only with a sergeant, who in no way resembles what he's anticipated from James Stewart movies, but hick bunkmates with low I.Q.s, and goyishe mess-hall foods with exotic names like creamed chipped beef. Eugene deals with this alien land by delivering line after line that hit their comedic marks.



World Ski Joring Championships - Whitefish
January 25-27, 2013
The event involves horses and riders pulling a skier who navigates a course with a series of jumps and gates. Come watch the competition Saturday January 26th at the Whitefish Airport 12:00 to 4:00 pm.  Sunday, January 27th at the Whitefish Airport 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Food & beverages are available at the event. Awards will be handed out on Sunday January 27th after the competition and Craggy Range Bar in downtown Whitefish.

Rocky Mountain Bullriders Challenge

Bull riding starts at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Take the night off and come enjoy the Rocky Mountain Extreme Professional Bull riding event at the Majestic Valley Arena. The bull riding will feature some of the best talent in the Northwest. Stock will be provided by C'N Stars Bull Company and Berger Bucking Bulls, Arrow K Rodeo and Triplett Rodeo Bulls. Concessions are available, so take the night off from cooking and eat here.

Special Olympics State Winter Games

A highlight of the winter season, the Special Olympics Montana State Winter Games bring together more than 500 Special Olympics athletes and their coaches for three days of winter sports competition at The Whitefish Mountain Resort in Whitefish. Under the guidance of hundreds of volunteer coaches, athletes train on the slopes and trails near their home communities for a minimum of eight weeks prior to the event.



Nate Chute Hawaiian Classic

This is a snowboard competition held in memory of Nate Chute and has turned into one of the most prolific events in the Northwest. Nate was a well known snowboarder from Whitefish. Now, many of his friends come back to Whitefish from all over the west coast to participate in this event. A portion of the proceeds go to the Nate Chute Memorial Fund which provides help to local teens and adolescents during times of need. Cash prizes for Pro/Open categories, with a purse of $3,000.



Whitefish Pole, Pedal, Paddle Triathlon

This is an event that should become a staple Whitefish spring event. As we begin to look towards the changing seasons we are offering an event that caters to whatever your pleasure may be. This 3-leg multi sport relay race includes - a Boating section, a Biking section and a mountain section (which includes an uphill and downhill portion). Hence the name Pole, Peddle, Paddle

Whitefish Ski Golf Classic

For golf and ski enthusiasts, early April is usually the time of year in Whitefish that both worlds collide. In celebration of spring snow in the mountains and sunshine in the valley, Whitefish Mountain Resort and Northern Pines Golf Club host the Whitefish Ski Golf Classic. The event is also held in memory of Jon Bos who owned and operated the Hellroaring Saloon at Whitefish Mountain Resort.



Race a 14-18 gate Giant Slalom course on Lower Hellroaring Run to Lower Ed's Run (night league course. Play 'scramble' for 9 holes at Big Mountain Club Course.)



2013 Texaco Country Showdown – Majestic Valley Arena - Kalispell
April 5 & 6, 2013, Doors Open at 6:00 p.m. with the event starting at 7:00 p.m.
Come and watch local Northwestern Montana talent compete at the Texaco Country Showdown. The Texaco Country Showdown is designed to find the most promising country music talent in America and to give these performers a chance to launch their professional music careers. The Texaco Country Showdown begins each spring with over 400 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the US. Winners advance to their respective State competitions held at leading fairs and expositions. Acts then compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title and the opportunity to advance to one of five Regional Finals. Audiences from coast-to-coast come to cheer on the Regional Winners, as they compete for the Grand Prize of $100,000 and the National Title. A uniform judging system is used at all levels of competition to ensure fairness. Don't miss the fun!

Pond Skim

The competition is open to all competitors’ 21-years and older. The pond skimming celebrates the wacky feeling of spring and the end of the ski season. Participants must have skis or snowboards appropriately worn (normally mounted) as they attempt to cross an 80+ foot pond. Costumes are recommended and will be judged in a category of its own. Skimming will be an individual competition based on longest skim. Participants will advance to the next round after a successful skim at various distances.






The Importance of Being Earnest @ Whitefish Theatre Company

Written 117 years ago, by Oscar Wilde, the play takes us into the world of two young gentlemen living in 1890's England who have taken to bending the truth about an invented brother named Earnest in order to put some excitement into their lives. Things start to go awry when their deceptions are discovered - threatening to spoil their romantic pursuits. "Wilde captures the shallow foolishness of giddy lovers, snobs, social climbers; the over privileged, the overeducated, and the overindulgent." - NY Theatre.



Rendezvous Days - Eureka

The 34th Annual Rendezvous Days is an annual spring festival held in the Northwest Montana town of Eureka. The Rendezvous features fun and activities for the whole family to celebrate the end of winter and the coming of spring. Rendezvous Days will kick off on Friday Evening, April 26th with the Annual Kick off Dinner and Concert.  More information to follow



Saturday, April 27th is packed with events, arts, crafts, Black Powder contests, quilt show, flea market, car show, and one of the Largest Parades in the Pacific Northwest.



Sunday, April 28th, the Rendezvous Days events continue.



Death by Chocolate Murder Mystery at the Conrad Mansion - Kalispell

Talented actors and actresses perform the mystery throughout the mansion while guests act as detectives to find the killer, motive, and weapon.  Important clues are placed throughout the mansion to help solve the mystery.   There will be decadent flowing chocolate fountains accompanied with strawberries, delicious hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.  The Bad Larry’s will perform live music.  A silent auction and raffle will feature exciting prizes donated by local businesses, and Six Shooters Vintage Photography will be available to take photos of guests during the event. As part of the Wild West theme, guests are invited to dress in western attire as they solve the mystery and enjoy delicious food and drinks.  Prizes will be awarded for the best costume.

Summit Solstice Triathlon/Duathlon
June 16, 2013 9:00 AM    Foy’s Lake - Kalispell, Montana
The Triathlon around Foy’s Lake is a challenging, competitive event for beginners or the seasoned competitor. This event includes a ½ mile swim, 12.7 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. The Duathlon consists of a 3.1 mile run, 12.7 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. Computer chip timing will be offered allowing for accurate times, accurate split times and results after you finish the race. Awards for the top three division winners will be presented after the last participant crosses the finish line. Food will be provided. Raffle prizes will be given out after race is completed. Awards will be presented to the top finishers after the last participant crosses the finish line. Triathlon/Duathlon registration deadline is June 12th. No refunds.



35th Annual Whitefish Lake Run

Held annually since 1977, the Whitefish Lake Run has been a major part of the Montana road running scene. The event offers a 5k (3.1 mile) and a 10k (6.2mile) running option to nearly 500 participants each year.

The Glacier Challenge

Covering 50 miles of the most beautiful country in Northwest Montana, The Glacier Challenge will be a race to remember! Centered around the quaint town of Whitefish, the race encompasses six different legs. These legs include: a Canoe Leg, a Road Bike Leg, a Mountain Bike Leg, a Kayak Leg, a 5K run and a 10K run. Enter as a team, partner or an individual. There is a spot for everyone willing to take on the adventure!

The post-race party includes entertainment by a live band, food and beverages, an award ceremony and plenty to celebrate. Come join us even if you don't compete, cheer on our racers and participates in the fun.



Riverside Park has a great playground that is a favorite for kids. There is gazebo for sitting and lots of grass and shade trees.



62nd Annual North American Indian Days

North American Indian Days, an annual celebration and the largest and most impressive of Blackfeet tribal events, hosts Native Americans from every region of the United States and Canada. Featured events include traditional drumming and dancing contests, the crowning of Miss Blackfeet, a parade and fun run and more. Probably the best rodeo in the west you’ll ever see!



Festival Amadeus - Whitefish

The 2013 Festival Amadeus will open with an Open Air concert on the lawn of Depot Park in Whitefish on Sunday, July 22. No Admission Fee! There will be food vendors and beer and wine available for purchase. Festival will continue through the week with a sparkling lineup of guest musicians.

Two Bear Marathon - Whitefish

The Two Bear Marathon is limited to the first 300 Runners who enter (sorry, no walkers); runners must be 16 years of age or older, in good health, and well-trained. The Two Bear Marathon is a challenging course with a cut-off time of 6.5 hours (14:53 pace). This is a Point-to-Point course. The first 15 miles take you through the Stillwater State Forest on dirt roads and trails, passing Beaver Lake, Murray Lake, Woods Lake and Thornberg Lake. The remainder of the course is paved. Miles 15 through 24 follow the north and east shores of Whitefish Lake to City Beach. You’ll cruise the town of Whitefish for the remaining 1.5 miles, ending at The Wave.

Halloween - Whitefish Style

Its Halloween boys & ghouls! Iconic radio voice Paul Harvey once proclaimed Whitefish to be one of the best places to be in America on Halloween. A massive adult Halloween party on Central Avenue, complete with a costume party and judges strategically positioned in each of the downtown bars, presents some pretty interesting sightings. Cash prizes for 1st and 2nd place in 3 categories including: Individual, Couple, and Group will be awarded at midnight. One thing we know for sure is that Whitefish loves to have a good time.

Christmas Stroll in Whitefish

Wrap up in your best holiday attire and spirit and get ready to stroll. Visit the stores, ride a horse-drawn wagon, try a roasted chestnut, enjoy enchanting Christmas sounds, and treat yourself to the delicious food and beautiful crafts the street vendors have to offer. Join in on the second annual caroling competition and merry-go-round parade.
