After a restful winter out to pasture our 53 horses are now back at the ranch. One by one as the horses were unloaded from the trailer I overheard our seasoned wrangler, Lindsay, giving an overview of each horse to our new wranglers. When Artax stepped off, she affectionately described him as, “one of our best horses due to his thoughtful and quiet nature.” It made for an easy decision as to our new horse of the month. Artax’s name came from his resemblance to a horse in the 1984 film, The NeverEnding Story. He enjoys giving his beautiful white coat an ole fashioned mud bath more than the average horse. The wranglers swear they can see a mischievous sparkle in his eyes as they brush him in the morning. Artax also enjoys taking every one of all ages and experience levels out on the trails and is excited our busy season has arrived so he can hit the trails more often!
